Rosie's is an entirely typical home cooking breakfast spot. That is not a bad thing. It may be exactly what you want. I had a walnut waffle topped with apples. The waffle itself was fluffy and well made. I was disappointed that the apples were cold and seemed to have come from a can (but I don't know for sure). I had two scrambled eggs on the side, which made for a good sized breakfast. My wife had eggs over easy with rye toast. Again, nothing special, but very good for what it was. At $15.00 for both of us, Rosie's is a good bet. Service was very friendly and fast. Note: no credit cards; I had to run to the ATM across the street.

Rosie's is a small family run restaurant with friendly service, tasty food and reasonable prices. This was our first time here and we would not hesitate to return for home cooked type breakfast...not a trendy or yuppie joint by any stretch of the imagination...just the basics.

We got lucky one rainy Saturday morning and got right into Rosie's without a wait. Great old fashioned diner breakfast. Big portions, something on the menu to please all ages, and friendly service. It gets busy so coffee service can be slim to none, but our waitress was working her butt off so I can't complain. My daughter loved the blueberry pancakes, and my son loved that he could get a 1/2 grilled cheese and fries for breakfast. Lots of tasty skillet varieties, can even sub in egg beaters. Worth a visit!

Average food, hometown crowd.
(3)Bonnie B.
Love the biscuits and gravy! The veggie omelette is so 80's with the mushrooms from the can. No one wants canned veggies. Causes health issues

We were driving through during the winter and there weren't many places open so we stopped here for lunch. It's a dark, musty-smelling place that reminded me of my grandparents' cottage. The server was very nice, food arrived quickly, it tasted fine, and prices were good. My guess is that their breakfasts are better than lunch.

A lovely place to catch a good breakfast while in town. Real home town, wood paneling, arts&crafts style. Coffee was flowin' and the B&G was tasty. I am a B&G connoisseur, and Rosie's passes the test. Bring cash.

This restaurant was highly recommended to us for breakfast. We came with a group of 8 at 930 on a Sunday morning and were seated within 15 minutes. The wait staff was very attentive and our food came out within 10 minutes. It was average food, nothing remarkable, but satisfied our breakfast cravings.

Stumbled upon this charming little diner in Michigan, Great food friendly service all at very reasonable prices! The food is reminiscent of good old fashion home cooking .They also sell local artist artwork , it is on display throughout the diner. If you have a chance check this place out you won't be disappointed.
(5)Mary Ann C.
Delightful. Old fashioned diner with friendly and attentive staff. My friend and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast here recently. Loved my biscuit, and the oatmeal was also quite tasty. It is cash only, but the food comes out FAST! Great spot!
(4)David H.
Food came out fast. Omelette was good, otherwise food was simply okay. Even though it was fast some of the food was cold. Coffee was decent. Friendly folks. Probably wouldn't return because there are better options in the area.
(3)Rachel K.
What you see is what you get. Reasonably priced for decent diner food and good service. The Chicago omelet and blueberry pancakes are great. This place gets very busy for breakfast but is on the adorable Main Street off the marina in new buffalo. I recommend it for a quick casual meal
(3)Tad D.
Don't bother. The place has gone downhill. For $20 we got breakfast for two, which appeared to be "open can, place in microwave" style. There's also a lot of crap on the menu about only two refills of certain beverages. And it's cash only. Seriously, folks, try to show us you enjoy having customers.
(2)Anne A.
Good service and good food at a reasonable price. We had breakfast. The corned beef hash was tasty and appreciated. They only accepted cash for payment (thank goodness we didn't spend it all at the casino) but there was no sign that we saw.
(4)Matt L.
Lynda and I almost drove right past this place, what a mistake that would have been. They say they have serving the area since the late 70's and they have to decor to match but don't let that put you off. The food is very good, I had the waffle sunshine and a side of corned beef hash, both among the best I have had. Service is good too. Be warned, they only take cash.
(4)Nichole C.
You know, I'm not a fan of breakfast, but this place does it right. It's simple, down-home cooking goodness, and it's fast. They accept cash only, and don't have anything too fancy, but what they do have is pretty good. I ended up getting the biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs and 2 links, and everything was cooked perfectly. My snobby breakfast snob husband wasn't satisfied with the bacon, but he never is, so don't take his word on it. The service was excellent, the place is clean (which you usually can't say about family owned breakfast joints), and I like the family history here. I usually don't eat breakfast, but when I do, it just may be at Rosie's...
(4)Norman R.
Good breakfast spot, I'd recommend it. Traditional diner, had the 2-2-2 special and the breakfast sandwich.
(4)Matt B.
Dear lord do not eat the meatloaf with potatoes. A few bites and it was the rest of the day in the bathroom. Everything is boxed or canned in this place.
(1)Eric T.
Typical small town, unpretentious, breakfast diner joint. If you are looking for a quaint town gastro-experience - this is NOT it. Our food was fresh, delicious, and arrived to the table really fast! We would come back for a decent meal!
(4)Stephanie G.
Meh...just ok. I don't know that we'd return. Breakfast was....fine. Service was....fine. Cash only, not an issue. They first say us at a broken booth, I can't imagine they didn't know it was broken. We moved ourselves. My only real issue was that the coffee was TERRIBLE. Honestly I don't know that I've had a worse cup o joe anywhere. If they had better coffee is probably return. But with a just average breakfast and terrible coffee id be better off just about anywhere else.
(3)Joanna J.
We were visiting the area and arrived late on a Sunday morning with 8 people. We were quickly seated in a large back room and offered coffee and brought water immediately. Our server was very nice and checked up on us frequently. Our breakfast was great; pancakes were large, bacon crisp and hash browns were sliced potatoes that were browned. My western omelet was good but I would have loved more egg; it was a little thin on the outside with small diced veggies and ham inside. Overall we were very happy and the prices were very fair.
(4)Mike G.
Good location but service was poor and food was plain with lack of flavor. I had the blueberry pancakes that had a handful of blueberry in them. A side of bacon was over cooked but bacon is always good. The food did come out fast. Overall not a fan and would not return.
(1)Amy T.
Typical low end diner food and atmosphere. Honestly, gross.
(1)Jane B.
We visited Rosie's last year and loved it. A group of us visited again last week and didn't love it as much. All of us ordered the same breakfasts of two eggs, bacon and toast. Even though it wasn't busy, our service was slow, and the food was tepid. Additionally, we weren't offered refills on coffees or teas either. Hopefully, the next time will be better.
(3)Jeffrey H.
They're pretty serious about the "no outside food or drink". Drove 30 minutes to go to a specialty coffee roaster then stopped in for breakfast. No flexibility on the policy; my coffee would have to go. So, we got up and left... Made the long wait for someone to notice us at the table all the more frustrating.
(2)Erica A.
Great service and a delicious breakfast. Quiet atmosphere, made for a pleasant family breakfast.
(4)Terri Z.
Just okay. Coffee, good. Bacon, very good. Omelet, not so good. I had a cheddar and onion omelet, the onions were undercooked and the eggs and cheese over cooked. My husband ended up eating it for me in addition to his Western omelet which was pretty much the same. It might just be me, but I like my cheese melted and my eggs not brown after cooking. The service is excellent. They get extra credit for not showing the door to three couples and one woman with two children that came in 10 minutes before closing. People, if the restaurant closes at 2PM, don't go in to start a meal at 1:50PM.
(3)Rachael T.
Rosie's is awesome. Prices are great and how can you not love the vintage 1950's Knotty-Pine paneling? Now, you have to understand that New Buffalo is tiny. Even for a resort community. So in tourist season, just know that when you come into the restaurant everyone will stare at you for three to five seconds to a) Determine if they know you, b) Determine if they want to know you, and c) Determine if they have a bigger house/boat/car than you. Best for breakfast. Eggs any style, fluffy buttermilk pancakes, and good coffee. You can't ask for more than that.

3.5 I love Yelp. I say this as we were driving to Chicago from Michigan and we were hungry. I feared having the typical chain stuff immediately off the freeway. This was 1 to 2 miles, straight off the freeway. Adorable little place. Clean and the food is nicer then most chains you would go to. Breakfast seems to be the way to go, although my husband enjoyed his sandwich. I enjoyed my breakfast and I tried the pancakes, which were good. Next time we travel through we will be stopping here. This place is not far from the water so it is a beautiful area to eat, go have hot cocoa (all year round for me!) next store, and then walk (or drive if it's cold out) over the train tracks to the pier and see the waves come crashing in from Lake Michigan. Great place to stretch your legs and take some pictures after you eat. Super cute little town! Located on the left side of the street.
(3)Rodger W.
Good choice for a homestyle breakfast in chi-chi New Buffalo. The test of a breakfast spot's chops are the potatoes. These were well done, plentiful and buttery. prices were reasonable for New Buffalo, but expensive relative to West Michigan.
(3)Olga R.
Best waffles ever tasted. Yum!
(4)A F.
Rosie's is the cutest little cafe/diner i have ever seen. The homeade chicken noodle soup is so good, and the greek salad was amazing as well. This place is cash only fyi and is so worth the trip!!
(4)Mike K.
Rosie's is your old school, charming, no nonsense diner on the strip in New Buffalo. It's good enough for the locals and the weekenders. Hash, hash browns and coffee - fuel for the road. And all done up just right. We had Rosie herself wait on us. VIP! Very nice lady. Top notch service. Top notch diner grub. Four stars. End of New Buffalo weekend.
(4)Mike S.
really laid back diner with quality breakfast. just the type of food we were looking for in this quaint town. we tried their eggs, potatoes, short stack, and biscuits and gravy. all very good and all would be ordered again. the place was packed solid and there was a 20 minute wait for the hour or so we were in the area so try to get in early. quite sure it was cash only as well so be prepared.
(4)Chad M.
Pricier than in the past. Lots of yuppies on the weekend. Still good breakfast.
(4)Dan G.
I love Rosie's. Nothing fancy here, and that's just what I love about it. You see, when I wake up craving a brekkie fix I need some good downhome cooking. That is exactly what you'll find here. The menu features your typical breakfast options. Omelettes, eggs, ham, sausage, bacon and friendly waitresses that work the room of locals topping off coffees. If you are the type that has NASA approved Starbucks order or can't do with a simple breakfast, this is not the place for you. Think bacon and sunny side up eggs, with a side of killer hash browns. Now you got it. Not expensive at all. But, you will need cash only. So, take care of that first and then take care of the hard working ladies that got your day off to a great start.
(5)A A.
All American breakfast with 2 eggs, pancakes, and bacon. Eggs and bacon were good but standard. Pancakes were subpar - dry and not very tasty. And they give you prepackaged individual portions of syrup instead of warm syrup like any bfast place should.
(2)A D.
Rosie's consistently pops up when Googling top breakfast establishments in the New Buffalo area so we figured, why not? We soon had an answer to that question. First, let me say our waitress was a nice gal. The food is no reflection on her. The positives though end there. The coffee is bad, the mugs are chipped, bacon was nearly burned, eggs were stone cold, omelette was greasy & enclosed veggies weren't fresh. Pancakes had black bits all over them probably from a dirty grill. Sausage links completely overcooked, possibly from a previous day. No real cream for coffee, just a non-dairy product in small cups. Syrup? Small individual tubs of fake maple flavoring. Why the favorable reviews?! Keep the cash in your pocket & go someplace else. Head to Three Oaks for some quality food in this area, only a 10 min drive!

Had to give a single star, no option for no stars. Three tables overwhelmed the staff. Owner/hostess refused to help. Asked for water, didn't get it Simple breakfast sausage for my one year old came almost red on the inside and completely seared on the outside. Sent it back and they recooked the same sausage, and it came back pink. Still undercooked. Eggs had a strange green/black spot. Only had packets of syrup, and the orange juice tasted like "tang". We had to beg for coffee refills. Sausage gravy tasted like hamburger gravy. Waitress put silverware down in a big pile and then asked if it was "OK". Pile was placed between the one year old and the two year old. Have lost some respect for yelp (at for least people who responded about this restaurant). All four adults agreed that this was on the list of the worst breakfast places we've ever eaten at.
(1)L. R.
Average food. Touristy. Omelette made with frozen spinach. Toast came unbuttered. Waited for a coffee refill a realllllly long time. Pancakes were excellent though. People packing in and waiting (?) to get in. Not really that inexpensive either.

Mmmmm Rosie's was exactly what I was looking for in a getaway vacation breakfast spot. It is still unchanged from it's traditional 70's decor... unpretentious with wood paneled walls, orange pleather seats, a place to eat breakfast and have coffee at the counter... nice old lady waitresses.... you get my drift... It's a no frills diner with charm and a chef that makes a scrumptious shortstack and sunny side up eggs that were perfect. No-chai-mocha-latte-tata-french-toast-pita-pockets-on-a-swizzle-glow-stick here. It's the return to simplicity.... order up some home fries and leave your iphoneblackberrybluetooth at the door.

My boyfriend and I visited Rosie's this past Tuesday morning while on vacation. This is your average breakfast diner that you would visit while on vacation. I had the short stack buttermilk pancakes with sausage patties and an orange juice. My boyfriend had the turkey club with fries. My meal was pleasing and filling. The pancakes were well made and the sausage was cooked perfectly. The orange juice seemed like it may have been fresh squeezed, but I can't be too sure. The only thing that put me off was the fact that they brought me two packets of Mrs. Butterworth's syrup. I pretty much expected to be brought syrup in a diner dispenser (or whatever they use for warm syrup). My boyfriend very much enjoyed his club. He actually said that it was one of the best he has ever had. He said that the sandwich was very fresh. The thing that I liked most about this place is that it is still family run to this day. I read the small story about the restaurant on the card at the table. The atmosphere is just your typical diner atmosphere. It has a great location right near the beach and in the heart of town. The price was also wonderful. We paid about $16-19 dollars before tip for all of our food which is not too bad in such an expensive town. I would definitely recommend Rosie's while you are in New Buffalo because its a good bang for your buck.

(3.5) We stayed at the New Buffalo Inn & Spa and were given $10 gift certificates to use each morning at Rosie's during our stay. We hadn't planned on going out to breakfast, but with the good reviews and free $10 we decided to give Rosie's a shot. It was ok. The service was ok. The decor was exactly what I expected. The food was ok. They say they are famous for their biscuits & gravy and their waffles so I ordered the biscuits & my husband ordered a walnut malted waffle. The biscuits & gravy were ok...desperately needed pepper though, and the gravy was a little gluey. The waffles were pretty good, crisp and tasty. The biggest issue I had though is they gave him two single serving containers of Mrs. Butterworth's syrup for them! If you are "known for" your waffles use real maple syrup! All in all, two juices, one coffee, one order of biscuits & gravy and a waffle with a side of (kinda burnt) bacon set us back nearly $30 (before the gift certificate). CASH ONLY is important to note but wasn't listed on the gift certificate.

As we continue our never ending exploration of the Michigan Wine Country (right now we are focusing on the Michigan Lake Shore Wine Trail) we happened upon Rosie's when we decided to venture off the interstate to the Red Arrow Highway earlier than we normally do. Rosie's is always crowded, which is a good sign to me. We were seated after a five minute wait and were visited almost immediately by our waitress. We both ordered breakfast, and it was served up right quick..lol! Eggs done just right, waffles cooked to perfection and plenty of everything, so you leave happy and replete. Service was great, cost pretty standard. They only accept cash, which might put some folks off, but it is worth hitting the ATM for. Definitely will be a return trip in the near future for us!

no more than what it appears, a basic, common diner. the coffee was quite weak, (i now carry single packets of instant coffee to add) as was all the coffee i tried in this town and area. being so close to the IN border it must rub off on the Michiganders too. I really liked the fact that i could order ala carte. with so much eating out while on vacation, one piece of french toast was perfect after a couple nibbles off hubbys omelet and hash browns. and it was quite good french toast. common prepackaged syrup which i would never buy for my own home but it was good too. hubbys spinach and cheese (not being able to identify just what kind of cheese it was - he ordered swiss instead of the menu's mozzarella, tho could not say it was actually either) and hash browns were also quite good. prices no more than one might pay in a metro area with numerous places to get breakfast. waitress was patient while we took extra time to make our choices, friendly and courteous. did have to ask for a refill on coffee but i think she was just overworked doing register work too. would return if ever in the area for breakfast.

Stopped in for lunch today. Rosie's is a cozy little diner on the main drag. I had the breaded pork tenderloin. This was a very tender & juicy pork cutlet. I had it "Iowa style", on a hamburger bun with ketchup, pickle, onion and mustard. One of the best anywhere. The wife had the western omelet, she said it was just ok. Nice owners and good help in a touristy town on the lake.
(3)Chuck B.
I have never, ever, been compelled to write any restaurant review, but after reading these posts, I doth protest. Rosie's tops the list of one of the most unforgettable, mediocre breakfast restaurants I have ever dined in. One compliment: my Belgian waffle was well cooked. Everything else was sub-par and embarrassing if I was considered a great breakfast place. The reasons against: fake dairy creamer in little cups, really bad coffee and not-even-real maple syrup in plastic containers. Lastly, no fresh fruit, but I did get frozen blueberries, all crinkled and barely resembling a fruit. I love regular diners, but I like the attempt at good food. There was none here. I highly recommend Retro Cafe, everything Rosie's is not.

So 2nd morning in a row my wife and I went there for breakfast and I love it! The staff is friendly and the food is so quick coming out. We've only eaten breakfast there but man is it good! The atmosphere is the nice little family diner atmosphere which is easy to relax in and enjoy your food or a cup of coffee. Too bad I don't live here or I would probably be there every morning!
